Dear

I hope you are continuing to enjoy this free member information service from South Lanarkshire Leisure. Based on your personal interest of Weight Loss activities,
I have put together some information you may find interesting and useful.

Many people eat through habit, emotion or boredom. For example, people snack when they are watching TV, making something to eat. As soon as they come home after work, will pig out on chocolate after a bad day, or go and get a packet of crisps.

These are all habits formed by repetition and can all result in piling on the pounds. All habits are hard to break, however the easiest way to break a bad habit is to replace it with a new good one, again through repetition.

For example head straight to the gym after work rather than straight for the fridge, go to a Body Combat class when you have had a bad day, go for a walk or read the newspaper during a break at work.

Soon this will become part of your routine and your bad habits will be replaced with good healthy ones and you will loose weight along the way!

Try to also form the good habit of drinking more water on a daily basis. This will curb your hunger and is extremely good for your body.

The British Dietetic Association guidelines state that an average adult should consume around 2.5 litres of water per day. This intake needs to be increased during periods of hot weather and exercise. This intake should be spread throughout the day.

Try to substitute that can of fizzy juice or cup of tea for a glass of water. Water is essential

for life. Research has shown we loose around 1 pint of liquid every day through breathing.

It is essential for our digestion and metabolism, carring oxygen and nutrients to cells through the blood, regulates body temperature and lubricates our joints. If you are not consuming enough water your body will not be functioning as efficiently as it should and may result in carrying excess weight and body fat, as well as dangerous dehydration which can cause dizziness, nausea, apathy and confusion.
